Jean Marie, or rather Gene if the Starbucks baristas are to be believed, is a born and raised Alaskan. From a young age she knew that she wanted to be a storyteller. Or an astronaut. She enjoys reading books as well as writing them, and when she is not working with the written word she is listening to music, drawing or playing video games.
She lives in a normal structure of wood and glass in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley region of Alaska. There she is one of the founding members of a local writing group and shares living space with a spoiled cattle dog by the name of Chai.
Jean has participated in NaNoWriMo since 2004, winning ever year since despite the usual chaos that occurs whenever someone tries to do something important. She claims that she learned every thing she ever needed to know about writing, and some things she didn’t, during the annual event. She is currently rewriting and editing her NaNoWriMo novels, hoping for publication.
